Myspace Music Marketing Tips (Part 2)

Myspace Music Marketing Tips (Part 2)

By Brandon MarcelAfter the huge success and response from my last article on this topic I chose to get into the trenches yet again an expose even more Myspace Music Marketing Tips for bands or solo artists. These tips, like the last ones, are all things that can be easily setup and utilized for free by just about anyone (assuming you’re smart enough to type your own name, click a computer mouse and easy stuff like that). These tips though, should help you out just as well as the last ones, if not even better!

“I’m in the mood for more…Myspace Music Marketing Tips.” Don’t bite that, I might use it in an article, song lyric or somethin’ else, lol :)

Here are 3 additional ways to get the most out of your Myspace Music Marketing Campaigns:1. Blogging - There is some series money and exposure that can be created just simply by blogging once or twice a day. As a band you aren’t forced to speaking only on the topic of music, but it would actually probably help out your cause if you flipped what is probably your current method. Fans want to know about you…the artist themselves, as well as their current band happenings. So…BEGIN TO TELL THEM ABOUT YOU! Your thoughts, ideas, feelings/emotions, etc. Do this at least several times a week and sign up for the various blog search engines and directories out there (my subscribers will be given a list shortly of about thirty of the top sources that I use myself, what???…It pays to be a subscriber to this blog, hahaha!).After that begin to utilize the invite user to blog feature on your Myspace account (within the other potential subscriber’s blog pages) and watch as hopefully your exposure, fan-base, and sales increases over the following months. Here’s a link to John Chow’s free e-book on blogging for money/business success, it’s great!

2. Podcasting - You can use podcasts both on and off of your Myspace accounts to keep fans up to date. If you don’t use the Myspace feature you can post links or use audio boxes of your current postings on your Myspace profile site. Podcasts are basically radio/television types of programs that you have complete and total control over. You can use them to show off new songs, ask for feedback on stuff, answer fan letters/faqs, or audibly tell about your band happenings. Don’t go crazy here though, remember to keep them short and to the point. Viral things like podcasts always have the opportunity of being spread across the Internet by users, so know that once you find the proper format (assuming your shows are actually worth listening to) the podcast users could possibly begin to do the leg work of marketing and promotions for you.Give it a try, most podcasting services are free, but we at IndieVisions.Com also offer a pretty solid (and cheap) podcasting service.

3. Myspace Groups - Myspace makes both creating and growing groups extremely easy. All you basically have to know how to do is type your name and click a mouse to be able to start one folks…it’s not that tough, lol. From there begin to invite people to your group via the Add User To Group button (located on main profile pages in the same area you add people as friends/send messages). Be aware that most people seemingly don’t allow non-friends to invite them into groups, so you’ll have to occasionally do a few extra clicks and wait for them to add you prior to inviting those members. Use your own friends/fan lists and that of other bands with a similar sound to yours to grow a more targeted list of group members. Then begin to post topics, bulletins and other types of messages that your members would enjoy (like member-only song download links and other free stuff). Groups, like the rest of the examples, allow you to keep in constant communications with fans and potential customers. This is invaluable to any musician, so be sure to utilize as many of these tactics as quickly and consistently as possible.I hope you enjoyed this article and picked up a few tips and tricks to add to your next Myspace Music Marketing Campaign. Let me know how everything goes with ‘em.
